Elfyn's future

Elfyn Evans is likely to stay with M-Sport in 2016, albeit only contesting selected World Rally Championship events.

The British team announced on Monday that it had replaced Evans and Ott Tanak with Citroen refugee Mads Ostberg and newcomer Eric Camilli for 2016.

Tanak will remain behind the wheel of an M-Sport-built Fiesta RS WRC, having secured a seat for the full season with the DMACK outfit.

The future Evans is unclear, but team principal Malcolm Wilson says he is assessing options.

The Welsh driver finished seventh in the 2015 WRC standings, three spots ahead of Tanak, and claimed a career-best second on Tour of Corsica in October.

"We're working on keeping Elfyn involved," Wilson said.

"It looks like it's going to take a few weeks, but we definitely want him around and we want him in the car.

"I can't talk about what sort of programme it would be, but it's possible we could switch drivers around in the main team and he could be in there on some events.

"For example, in the second half of the year there are four asphalt events and Elfyn goes really well on that surface."

M-Sport is also keen to run one of its second-generation Fiesta R5s in WRC2 next season, in an effort to demonstrate the car's speed against Skoda's factory Fabia R5.
